Every state and state secondary school in Queensland have a Teaching and Learning Review every four years.
From the 5th-7th of May, our school went through the process, to help inform the formulation of the 2026-2030 Strategic Plan.
The review itself is based upon the National School Improvement Tool (NSIT) and was performed by two school reviewers, Principals seconded for the purpose of undertaking our review, and an external reviewer. The panel of three spoke to over 100 stakeholders over the three days.
Based on the consultation process and aligning with the NSIT, the panel identified the key affirmations and recommendations over the 9 domains of the NSIT.
As well as finding affirmations and recommendations over the 9 domains, a number of key affirmations for the school were as follows:
- The principal communicates a strong commitment to teacher and student success and achievement, setting high expectations that are actively demonstrated by all leaders.
- The Parents and Citizens' Association (P & C) is recognised staff, students, and the community as a responsive organisation that contributes resources to improve student learning outcomes.
- Leaders emphasise an explicit, coherent and sequenced whole-school curriculum plan is published on QLearn, providing a central platform for all staff to access when collaboratively planning.
- Teachers value opportunities to consistently morning individual student progress, adapt their instruction to meet the evolving learning needs of their students, reflect and celebrate progress.
